Cummington Selectboard to Review Draft Hazard Mitigation Plan
CUMMINGTON — The Selectboard will take up a draft hazard mitigation plan at its Thursday, Sept. 24 meeting, town officials said this week, as Cummington also opened recruitment for a committee to plan its 250th anniversary and set a date for a town hall with a state representative.
TOWN HALL Town officials posted a draft Hazard Mitigation Plan on Sept. 11 that will go before the Selectboard at its meeting Thursday, Sept. 24, according to the town's official notices page. The plan is intended to guide how Cummington prepares for and responds to natural hazards, and residents can review the draft ahead of that meeting.
State Rep. Lindsay Sabadosa will hold a town hall at the Community House on Monday, Sept. 28, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., the town announced Sept. 9.
Separately, the town is recruiting seven residents, ages 18 and older, to a new seven-member committee that will plan Cummington's 250th anniversary in 2029. Officials called the milestone "once in a generation" and are seeking volunteers from all backgrounds to help shape events and celebrations honoring the town's history.
COMING UP Junior Olympics, Sunday, Sept. 27, at Tilton Field in Goshen. The event is free for children ages 4 to 14 from Cummington, Ashfield, Chesterfield, Goshen, Plainfield, Windsor and Worthington, with registration handled through the towns.
